Convention Centers of the modern society are more than just performance spaces. Convention Centers today represent Community Centers where people gather to promote interaction and public participation.
The design of the proposed convention center focuses on welcoming the general public into the designed space with its high set of steps leading to the entry foyer and a comprehensive canopy roof that extends over the entrance. The large mass dominates the confined site as an architectural icon.
The front façade with high glass walls provides extensive views through interior and exterior, encouraging the public to explore the facility. At the entrance, the central atrium extends up to the upper floor and maximizes visual connectivity between the floors and also stimulates a sense of space. The flexible main lobby with its open and continuous space can be molded to accommodate temporary exhibition spaces.
